Leadership in Risk Management
Risk managers need support from the top if they are to be successful. This means that the C-Suite and even the Board of Trustees needs to be involved in risk management efforts. I always recommend that a trustee be a member of the risk management committee (and several others as well). This serves two purposes: the staff know that the board is interested and involved, and, secondly, it helps greatly in educating trustees about the business of the hospital.
